Simo said "I can happily say there isn't one Person I have met, that I wouldn't want to spend a hell of a lot more time with ! ! Absolutely Awesome bunch of People."
I have got to agree with Simo. Strange that when it came time to go our own way, I was reluctant to part company with anyone there. Yet I hadn't met most of them before....!
How does that Work?
My daughter Grace summed it up pretty well when we got home. A mate of ours asked how the weekend went. Grace replied that the atmosphere there was like "....one big family, different than just friends getting together...".
I had the same thoughts myself, but I found it interesting that my 15 yr old daughter had the same perception.
Both my daughters and my wife had an absolute ball there. They are normally so shy and reserved, to the point of being aloof at times. So I was pretty stunned to see them interacting so much. Was good.
Jim said; "Yeah....well you haven't met us bastards who stayed home so look out!!"
No Jim we haven't met you, but we tried.
Start saving and planing for next year mate! Unless you are under 100kgs and can drive a go-kart that is....tooooo many (everyone else) of those already!
One thing I learnt over the weekend is that though I may be able to lift heavy weights.......my go-kart couldn't!

Now Kat I don't want to worry you mate but Fi told me at the Friday barbie that she had been spending time lately on the RIFLE RANGE.
Apparently she is quite good too.
Truth!
Much humble pie, many apologies, maybe some flowers, oh and some more Nurofen too.........!

I don't want to embarrass anyone, but I'm going to take the opportunity here to publicly acknowledge Lyn (Mrs 20yr+), and the effort that she put into our weekend. She worked tirelessly at making sure that everyone was comfortable, had enough to eat/drink and all those things. She was always watching out for others.
But where she deserves the greatest acknowledgment is the way that she just so naturally influenced the family atmosphere there.
A great lady and a pleasure to be around, as was all of that family. Even 20yr+ too ..... when we could drag him away from the laptop....!

Wow, so many posts to reply to!
Sharkie, doesn't matter what you say......you Perth people will always be behind the times. Actually perhaps you'd be better off leaving the Commonwealth and creating the United States of Madagascar. They're closer aren't they?
Gabe, I'm a long way down the path to getting to Melb in March so hopefully that will be an opportunity with you and others.

Large part of the family
Thats because we are a "big" family |
|
I take it you mean "Big" as in "Many" and not as in Muz/Gabe.... 'Coz with you out of the picture Chris Simo was looking like he fit in for a change.... |
|
Well actually Muz, only I was greater in weight than 20yr+! So maybe that was the reference to big!?
Then again the family is 'many'.

Jumped into the new Focus tonight and headed out of our lil seaside village and into the big smoke of down town Devonport, dropped the girls off at their end of year youth group dinner, and set off for a meal with just the wife and self.
Later in the night, on the way back to our lil village, it was interesting to hear the banter going on between Deb and the girls re Mildura.
After four months or so, the memories of that 'long weekend' are still vivid and precious in the minds of my three ladies.
They brought up the subject, not me!
Deb was relating with amusement (and fondness) about her 'introduction' to Simo.
Deb is shy and reserved, and here is this larger than life little fella who walks into our cabin, stubbie of Old Tooheys in hand and says "G'day Deb, I'm Simo...." gives her a big hug and a kiss, just like they were old mates from waaaay back!
My wife is not a huggie person, but I think that changed in Mildura.
Our daughters were in fits about their first encounter with Muz. This unknown (to them) big hulk of a fella appears in, and fills our doorway, multiple stubbies in hand ... under arms .... everywhere.... and booms out "I'm Muz! Wheres ya fridge, ours is full!"
Then there were the reminiscing re 20yr's family, and the friends that they made.
There was more said, but I think that you lot get the idea. As I said previously, it is months ago that all this took place, but those Webber Forum tragics that went to Mildura made a lasting, and positive, impression on my family.
Thank you everyone for the wonderful memories of a time enjoyed.
Best holiday that I have ever had.

I could have sworn I said "where's ya 'fridge, I'm too bloody lazy to carry an empty esky back home...."

Don't forget that I will be sharing your home in March. Please don't give me a reason to purchase some quick-set cement while I'm there.
Ahhhmmm as an aside, do you live close to the sea, or perhaps even a river?
A deeeeep river.......
